So last night Bud and I were hanging at home and I told him that I think I'm sort of in denial about the fact that we are having a baby in 4 weeks or less. I mean sure we've painted her room, put the crib together, received some adorable gifts and necessary items, put the car seat together, etc. but the fact that we're actually going to be USING all that stuff in less than a month just hasn't completely registered with me. I was realizing last night that if I just happened to go into labor early that I don't have a darn thing ready that I'd like to have ready. My house needs a really good deep clean, I need to stock my fridge and cupboards with some food for us and the inevitable family guests. I need to finalize my thoughts on some decisions about what I want to happen during labor and delivery and I need to pack a bag to have ready when it's time. I think I keep thinking to myself that my due date is August 14th and so I have plenty of time to do all that stuff. I mean I've had no complications or early contractions that make me think that I will have her early but let's be honest you really can't predict these things.
So last night in an effort to get the ball rolling we went grocery shopping...well we bought enough food to get us through the weekend anyway. Ha! And while we were at the store I purchased some little travel size bottles to put some shampoo and conditioner in and some feminine necessities that I was told I'd need after the baby comes. I know it's not much but just doing that made me feel like I'm making some progress towards being ready. I still need to pack some clothes for both of us and an outfit for the baby and there are still a few things I need to run to the store and get as well. I suppose that will be my mission this next week since this Friday is pay day. As for cleaning my house...well I mean there are only two of us so it's not like it's that messy but I need to deep clean the bathrooms, mop the floors and dust and vacuum. Normally I really like cleaning and the way I feel after it's all done but being 9 months pregnant, working all day and 115 degree weather is making it seem like climbing Mount Everest right now. I think I'll tell Bud he's in charge of everything from the waist down (toilets, tub mopping, etc.) and I'll take everything from the waist up (counters, mirrors, dusting, vacuuming). Ooo...I'm liking this arrangement already. I wonder if he'll agree? :-) Actually I know that even though cleaning is not his favorite thing to do he'll be happy to help. He's been SO amazing these past nine months. I feel so lucky to have married such an incredibly thoughtful, loving, kind considerate man. Wouldn't trade him for the world. Might I mention he can cook and does a stellar job at grocery shopping even when I send him alone (although he might deviate for a dessert or cereal I normally wouldn't buy. But at least they are always on sale!).
Anyway...I haven't been very good about keeping a journal during my pregnancy so since things are slow at work today and our families live far away I thought I'd just take a moment and give a little update on what's been going on. We are so excited to meet our little girl and I am amazed every day how close that day is getting. She is moving and rolling around so much right now I imagine it won't be too long before she's done being cramped in there. We love you all and can't wait for you to meet her too. More posts and pictures to come soon. I'll be 36 weeks on Saturday and my belly has grown a lot in the last two weeks. Speaking of belly...it's time for lunch. Thanks for reading!

I totally understand how you feel! Except I haven't even gotten as far as a car seat yet. You'll get it all pulled together:) And I totally get the wanting to deep clean the house. That's what I've been doing for the past two days that I've been home here in Vernal. It feels so good to just smell the clean!
I totally hear ya! I can tell you that I was grateful that yesterday morning I decided I would actually leave the house clean when I left for my appointment (usually dishes get left in the sink, toys strewn, etc., in the rush to get myself and two kids out the door). It is exciting to get to the point where you can start getting those last minute type things done.
And the waist up/waist down idea ... that's how we roll at our house during pregnancy. I think it's genius.
Ya, my water broke two weeks early and I was not ready. I hadn't bought any mommy essentials, my bag wasn't packed, and all the newborn clothes were packed away in a closet. Talk about procrastination and never mind the fact that I was going to get everything ready the very next day.
You'll do great...can't wait to see this little bundle of joy. (POST LOTS OF PICTURES!!!!!)
All I have to say is... I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE! Hurry up and Have that BABY!
:)
