Quite an Opportunity
This past week I have had the incredible opportunity of working with Rob Gardner a local composer who Bud and I used to attend singles ward with before we got married. He is incredibly talented and has written a musical "Blackbeard" and several other musical works such as "Joseph Smith the Prophet and "Saints & Pioneers". He recently finished composing a new work called "Lamb of God" about the final week of the Savior's life. The music is absolutely incredible and he just returned from recording the orchestration with the London Symphony Orchestra. I had the privilege of being in a select choir of 60 voices to record the choir portions of the work. We rehearsed Tuesday and Friday and recorded all day Saturday. Saturday was a long day (especially for a pregnant lady) :-) but it was SO worth it. The singers were all so talented and the music so beautiful. We recorded at Camelback Bible Church in Paradise Valley where the acoustics are amazing. We all had headsets on so we could here the orchestra feed and Rob was up front conducting. The premiere of the work will take place on September 10th and the East Valley Mormon Choral Organization will be the featured choir. This works out great for me since I will be out of commission for the first few weeks of rehearsal with the baby. But since I already know the music I'll be able to jump right in. I stole this picture from my friend Jenn's blog (thanks Jenn!) since I forgot to take out my camera. I'm in the back row right to the right of Rob's right hand (click on the picture to make it bigger). I can't wait to hear the recording!
