New crib...well sort of
This weekend we bought a crib. We were planning to buy a new one with the help of my parents (they offered) but when our friends told us they were having a yard sale to raise money for their son's eagle project and that someone had donated a white crib we thought we should take a look. I was excited to see that the style of the crib was very similar to another one I was looking at and they were only asking $35. You can tell (especially if you blow up the pictures) that there is a lot of wear to the paint but the crib itself is still in good condition. So we decided we would take it and it would be a fun project for us. I just got off the phone with Bud and he is on the patio right now working on stripping off all the old paint. The next step is to sand it down and then we'll add a fresh coat. I will post after pictures when we're done.

Oooooo! It's even CUTER than I thought!!
I love it!
The beadboard on the back sides is SO SO SO cute!
Good luck repainting!
I can't wait to see the finished product!

So fun to find a necessity at such a good price when you have the ability to fix it!! Then you can get help with some other pricey necessity (like a carseat- SO EXPENSIVE!!) instead...
I love that crib--I actually used to have it! It looks the exact same as the one we had for Jordan. Is it Jardine brand?
If it is here's the bad news...it was recalled about a year and a half ago. Here's the details...

I debated whether or not to replace ours b/c we loved it and I had no fear that the wood slats would break--they seem solid enough to me. (In fact Luke crawled in it with J a couple times!) In the end I decided to since we were getting ready to transition J to a big bed anyway and then I would just hold onto the voucher until we moved--one less thing to move.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but then maybe you'll like getting the voucher and picking out a new crib or maybe you'll keep it--really those wood bars don't seem flimsy at all. If you do keep it I'm super excited to see the refinish!
