Taking one for the team
For the last month or so we've been playing softball on Friday nights with some of our married friends from our old singles ward. Bud usually plays outfield or third base and I usually play first base. However some weeks our friend Kerri and her husband Thad play and Kerri likes to play first too so we take turns playing first and second. Well during the top of the fourth inning of our first game this week I was playing second base and a girl got up to bat. She hit a fast grounder right to me and I went down to stop it confident that I'd stop it. But just before it hit my glove it took a bad hop, hit the edge of my glove and hit hard right above my left eye. If felt fantastic...I'm pretty sure I teared up a bit but I finished the inning even though I could feel it swelling. When I came into the dugout everyone's mouths were hanging open and they started laughing. It had turned into a huge knot. We got some ice from the snack bar and then kept on playing in true sports lovers fashion. The pictures below have been taken over the course of the weekend as it has turned slowly from a knot to a black eye. Fortunately all the bruising is right where I put my make-up so you can't even tell. The saddest part is we didn't even win one game that night. It was a rough evening. :)

WOW Kim, way to take one for the team. That is nasty! Love the new makup look on the eye though :) you're one tough kid!
Oh sad Kim. You're a trooper though. I'm impressed. Hope you heal soon.
Dang Buddy, Beating your wife is not the answer.
Danny
Ouchey!!! You are tough Kim! Way to gooo! I'm sorry though, that looks pretty darn painful! Second base is DANGEROUS! I broke my nose on second! Ouch...hope you feel better!...and the all-natural purple-pink eyeshadow is a very pretty color. :)
WOAH! that's a SHINER! LOL. Not funny, but I just can't help notice Bud smiling in the background of one of the pictures. LOL
Hope it get's better soon. And that nobody asks you "how you are doing at home"... they probably think Bud hits you or something> LOL LOL.
It's not real softball unless you get something like that sooner or later right? I love buds smile too. I'm sure he was proud of his wifey taking one for the team.
Kim - Impressive! Luckily it wasn't a man at bat. I play outfield so I don't have to fight with those ground bounces. I loved the comment from Kristalyne - purple pink eyeshadow. What have you done to even it out?
Hey Kim-
Sorry about the eye. I can't believe how the color changed. Good to hear that you are loving married life. What else are you two planning for the summer?
