Hi Everyone...many of you have heard things in the news about the budget cuts here is Arizona that are affecting Arizona State University and have asked how this is affecting my job. So here is the basic scoop...There is a lot of restructuring and organizing going on and there have been significant lay-offs University wide as well as a hiring freeze put in place in the last two months. As classified staff we have all been asked to take 10 day furloughs (this means ten days off without pay) or take a temporary, voluntary pay reduction until the end of the fiscal year (June 30) to help with the budget crisis. There are rumors that the furlough may be extended into the next fiscal year and there will most likely be more lay-offs as well. So far however my job is very secure. I have no problem taking 10 days off without pay if it means that someone else can keep their job plus we are spreading it out so we really are only short one day per pay period so that helps as well. I appreciate the concern that everyone has shown it means a lot.
Bud and I feel extremely blessed to both have good jobs in this struggling economy and have seen incredible blessings in our lives as we work hard, pay our tithing and fast offereings, attend the temple and Sunday meetings and serve in our callings. I truly believe the promises given in Malachi that if we pay our tithes and offerings that the Lord will open the windows of heaven and pour blessings down upon us. We see evidence of this in our lives every single day. I am so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ, for my testimony, my sweet husband and my family. I am blessed beyond anything that I can truly comprehend. All is well my friends we love you!

We're glad to here that. We know all too well that you don't want to be out of work right now. Thank heavens we have a job now, but it is tough for everyone right now.
