I can't believe that Abby turned 4 months old on Christmas Eve. She is growing way too fast for her own good but it has been so fun to watch her discover new things. Her 3rd month slipped right by because of the Thanksgiving Holiday so I am going to try to capture both months here:
3 Months
- Started to drool like crazy and soak all of her shirts down to her belly button.
- Was visited by many members of both sides of the family and blessed by her dad at church.
- Started getting in a more consistent sleeping and eating routine since I started staying home full-time.
- Smiling even more and even bigger (if that is possible). ;-)
- Able to spend more time on her tummy without fussing.
- Chewing on her hands and fingers all the time.
- Started taking baths lying down in the big bath tub. She loves kicking and splashing!
- The weekend before Thanksgiving she cut her first tooth (I may have gotten a little misty eyed).
- Took her second road trip to CA for Thanksgiving. She slept like a champ and better yet she slept when we got there instead of screaming all night like the first time.
- Thanksgiving weekend cut her second tooth. She was a bit more fussy than with the first tooth but I think it may have been partly because we weren't home and she was out of her routine.
- After coming home from CA and cutting the second tooth she decided she wanted to wake up in the middle of the night for about a week and a half.
- Rolled from her back to her tummy for the first time. I set her on the couch to get ready to feed her and stopped for a second to listen to the news and when I looked over she was on her tummy. I put her back on her back and watched her do it again. She hasn't done it since but I think the "put her down and walk away" days are almost over.
- Decided to start putting her down earlier (about 7:30 - 8:00 pm) as she was getting too fussy in the evenings. She is waking up for one feeding about 1:00 - 2:00 am but has two nice long stretches on either side. I'm not complaining. She'll eventually start dropping that feeding.
- She has become very ticklish and giggles out loud when we tickle her.
- She continues to be very social and doesn't like to be left alone for long periods of time. She wants to be talked to, sung to or played with.
- Talking more and more.
- Occasionally sucks on the first two fingers of her left hand (sometimes it's three or all four- it's pretty funny because sometimes she gags herself.).
- LOVES taking baths at night and kicking and splashing and doesn't get made when I take her out (I'm sure she will eventually).
- Loves to be outside (we take walks almost daily) or on the go.
- Has found her feet and is starting to grab at her toes.
- Getting better at hand and finger coordination (she can now hold her teething ring and chew on it for short periods of time.).
- Still just a skinny little thing. She fits into some 3 - 6 month clothes but there are some 3 month pants that are still too big. She also has some newborn pants that still fit her around the waist but are getting too short. We call her our little chicken. :-)
