Well folks...we're finally taking the plunge and have decided to start our own business. Well sort of. As many of you know Bud has been working for his friend Sam doing plumbing for the last two years or so, but when things were slow with the economy and there wasn't much plumbing work he started installing cabinets for my cousin and her husband, Kim & Elisia, who own a custom cabinet and custom home business (Cabinet Resources- yes this is a shameless plug for their awesome business). He has been working for them as an independent contractor, and since there are bigger projects on the horizon (more on that later) we've decided that it is time for us to set up a LLC so that things are more official. This way we don't get double taxed and if something goes wrong on a project no one can come after our personal assets, only the business.
Our ultimate goal in the future is to own a business of our own that we will run together. But we're not exactly ready for that now and we're also not sure what we want to do yet. But learning the plumbing trade and how to do cabinet installations has given us a lot of ideas. We feel so blessed to have such great friends and family that are providing Bud opportunities to learn such great skills. He is a fast learner and loves to work with his hands. He likes to work hard and helping people is something that is really important to him.
So why the big announcement you ask? Well...we need your help to come up with a name for our business. I will list a few that we've come up with and we'd love your suggestions and ideas. Sometimes you think you've come up with a great name and you don't realize how it comes across to others. So put on your thinking caps. Some of the ideas are more general and some are specific. You get the idea. :-)

Ooo... this is so exciting!
k, so I have to be honest, the BK... anything, reminds me of Burger King. They always say on their commercials... "The BK whopper... and the BK King..."
that kind of stuff. Makes me think of a hamburger with too much mayo.
I like the Packard ideas.
I know Bud's name woudn't come first, but I like KB Packard Instillations, too. Whatever you pick will be fine... this is exciting for you guys!

Congrats! Business ownership is the way to go. What a great blessing for you. I agree with Shelley, that is what I first thought if was BK and Burger King. I love Packard Precision. Oackard Performance reminds me a bit of Hewlett Packard for some reason. Packard precision sounds so nice and definitely a first class business. Best wishes!
I like BK Installations! Plus, if you have a website or in the phone book, you might get people who stumble across your ad looking for Burger King:)

Congrats! Packard Precision is the best of these. I highly recommend seeing a CPA asap so you can know what to do in your LLC to get the most write-offs. Also, Legalzoom.com is a great and cheap way to set up your LLC. Also, you are good to start now because it would be SOOO hard to start a business after kids. It is so much work in the beginning! I can't imagine us starting now with our little ones - the first 2 years are brutal if you want to make sure it is successful.
