Cali, Family & Demo

Last weekend we went to California to get away from the heat and also to help Bud's parents start the demolition on their home. They are completely renovating and remodeling their place and it is a project that is long overdue and well deserved. When you raise ten kids there are plenty of things that get broken over the years and now it is Mom and Dad Packard's turn to have a nice place to call home. We are so excited for them and everyone had probably a little bit too much fun taking their frustrations of the past out on the walls of the old house. Sorry for the picture overload but since Aubrey is in Indiana I knew I needed to show her everything that's going on. Enjoy!

We're on the road to Cali!

We hit the 7s!

After a session on Friday morning...it was a little bright.

And the demo begins!

Downstairs bathroom...a little mold behind the cabinents.

Ripping out the shower in the upstairs bathroom...tough work!

Stacey taking the popcorn off the ceilings.

Making good progress on the shower

What is that smell?

The stairs

Source of the smell in the upstairs bathroom...sick!!

Buddy's stomach was a little weak after looking under the kitchen sink

Wow! Is that a stump holding the sink up?

Remnants of the bathrooms & kitchen

The living room

The guys trying to figure out how to not electrocute themselves when disconnecting the dishwasher.

Sisters modeling the stump that held up the sink

And the kitchen is gone

Rich...the fireplace tools...really? That's going to take all day!

Buddy found roots from outside that had come into the cupboard under the sink

Heigh, Ho! Rich impersonating one of the 7 dwarfs.

Jake taking a baseball bat to the wall in the hallway...I think it was good for him.

"X" marks the spot

Hole from the kitchen into the living room...guess that wall goes even though it wasn't supposed to. Ooops!

View from the living room into the kitchen

Taking out nails from the studs...looking into the kitchen.

And one of the best parts of our trip....getting to watch this little guy. Seriously...how can you not love that sweet little face, even if he can out sing some of the highest sopranos when he gets upset. We sure love you Carson!!

We're headed back on Memorial Day weekend and considering the 102 degree temps we're having already we can't wait!

Wow! I knew that they were doing some remodeling. I didn't realize they were tearing down the entire house and building from scratch! Ha ha. Looks like there was plenty to do.

Extreme home makeover Packard edition. Wow, I can see what you mean about a working vacation not a relaxing vacation. One question, "did you whistle while you worked?" Ha! I am sure they were grateful for the help.

Wish I could have been there! Glad to hear the transformation is about to take place! I have lots of questions - so I better call Dianna. I waited for over an hour, and the pixs didn't come up for me :(

So - the whole house is coming down?
