Our Honeymoon

Oceanside Harbor

Thanks to Bud's parents we stayed at a beautiful hotel right on the water for the first two nights of our honeymoon. The weather was beautiful and it was very relaxing.

Hawaii!

Early Monday morning we were off to Hawaii! We flew from San Diego to San Fransisco and then to Lihue, Kauai. We arrived about 12:30 pm and after checking into our ocean front hotel we were off on an adventure. The first thing we did was take a short boat tour up the Wailua River. It was so relaxing we almost fell asleep since we had to be at the airport so early.

This is the Fern Grotto cave

Some old guy paddling by the boat. Funny huh?

The next things we did was go to a traditional Luau at the Smith family farm. They live on a big plantation and so we took a tour of it by tram first before going to the luau. There were peacocks and roosters everywhere. They cooked the pig in the ground and the entire meal was delicious! Afterward there was a big show where they showcased all the traditional dances. It was too dark to take pictures but it was really neat.

Tuesday we went tubing and Wednesday we went on a full day kayak trip but we used our waterproof camera for both. I will post those pictures as soon as we get them.

Thursday was our free day so we went up to the north side of the island and visited the Hanalei Bay. The water was SO blue and beautiful. We explored the lava tide pools and just saw some of the countryside.

I thought this one was going to take me out can you tell?

The Hanalei river valley

The beach right by the luxurious Princeville resort. We wanted to go snorkeling but ended up running out of time.

Friday we went on an intense rafting tour of the Napali coast which is on the west side of the island. We saw spinner dolphins, sea turtles. We went over some eight and nine foot swells and got to see some really neat sea caves. On the way back we stopped at a beach, had a catered lunch, went snorkeling and went on a little hike. It was a really fun day but we were really sore and really sun burned even though we wore lots of sunscreen.

Saturday was one of our most favorite days because we got to go on an "open doors" helicopter tour of the island. It was SO amazing and we got to see everything we couldn't see from the ground. We flew into old volcanic craters, saw the Jurasic Park waterfall, flew over the Napali coast where we went rafting and some some beautiful scenary and rainbows. Hope you enjoy all the pictures we took.

We drove on a small road in between these tall pines on the way to our tubing adventure Tuesday.

We had SO much fun!

After lunch that same day we went on a zipline tour. We stayed 50 - 80 feet in the air for over an hour. It was fun to fly through the sky and do some tricks while doing it. And how about those smashing helmets and harnesses?

Look no hands!

On Sunday, our final day, we went to sacrament meeting at a local ward house and then drove around some parts of the island that we didn't get to see. This is Opekea falls. Pretty big huh?

We had so much fun on our trip and all the thanks goes to Donna and Stacey. Thanks ladies! We're just sorry we didn't get more pictures. We had a white convertible Ford Mustang all week and it was SO awesome to go crusing in but we didn't take any pictures because we were having too much fun on our adventures. Thanks to all of you who helped to make our sealing, reception and honeymoon so wonderful. We love you all. (As soon as I get the underwater cameras onto a cd I'll add those pictures too.)
